King's to open a sister school in Bangkok, Thailand

King's College School Wimbledon has announced that it has signed an agreement with Thai-based company Excellent Education of Thailand Ltd (XET) to establish King's College International School Bangkok.

Following the successful openings of schools in Wuxi and Hangzhou, China, in September 2018, King's Bangkok will be the third overseas school to join the King's family. The school will cater for local Thai and international pupils aged 2-18 and will open in September 2020. King's Wimbledon will provide guidance on the curriculum, the pastoral care and the co-curricular programme.

King's College International School Bangkok will be situated in the prestigious Ratchada-Rama 3 area of Bangkok, with easy access to the financial district and the city centre. The state of the art facilities will include a sports complex boasting an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a 600 seat auditorium and specialist science, music and art resources.

King's Wimbledon was founded by royal charter in 1829 and it is one of the most successful schools in the world today. King's is renowned for its academic excellence, and in the last six years over 300 pupils have won places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

XET were impressed, not only by King's outstanding academic credentials, but also the excellent pastoral care and a full commitment to the broader education of all students. Professor Sakorn Suksriwong, CEO of XET, said, "We have spent years researching and screening schools which offer a blend of the highest academic standards and a holistic approach to education. When we met with King's College School Wimbledon, we were immediately attracted by the world-class education King's provides, and realised that we had found the right partner to match our high ambitions."

Equally, the team at King's Wimbledon was very impressed by XET's vision and plans to establish an international school of the highest quality and their ambition to replicate King's Wimbledon closely. In his speech at the signing ceremony, Mr Andrew Halls, Head Master at King's College School Wimbledon said, "King's and XET have a shared vision of providing an outstanding education for every individual student. Our aim is for King's College International School Bangkok to be one of the leading schools in Asia."

The search for a Founding Head to take up post in September 2019 is already underway; the closing date for applications is 12 November 2018.
